Bilingual Nursing
The Bilingual Nursing Program (PCBNP) at Phoenix College, a unique cohort option, is designed to increase the number of bilingual (Spanish-speaking) Registered Nurses entering the workforce. You must first submit an application and meet the requirements for the Maricopa Community Colleges Nursing Program. Once your are on the wait list you will receive notification of Application Sessions being offered for those students interested in the Phoenix College Bilingual Nursing cohort. Twenty candidates are selected for the Bilingual cohort for the spring semesters. The Bilingual cohort is presented in the traditional nursing program format.

Certified Nursing Assistant

Concurrent Enrollment Program

The MaricopaNursing/Northern Arizona University (NAU) Concurrent Enrollment Associate/ Baccalaureate Nursing program is designed for qualified associate degree nursing students who are interested in earning their Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree while pursuing their Associates degree in nursing. The Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) allows students to pursue an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in nursing while providing an affordable course of study that enables students to complete their BSN degree in one semester after graduating with their AAS degree.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
HESI PN Assessment is required for admission.  All applicants must score at a ­­­­850 or higher to qualify for placement into Block 3 or Block 4. (Assessment Locations)

LPNs work under the direction of Registered Nurses (RNs) to administer medication and perform treatments.  The program combines nursing theory lectures with planned patient care learning experiences in hospitals, nursing homes and health care agencies, providing students with the theory and skills required to practice as a practical nurse in acute care, extended care, and intermediate care settings.

Licensed Practical Nursing Programs are currently available at GateWay Community College or SouthWest Skill Center.  This is a separate nursing program within the structure of the Maricopa Nursing program.

Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX-PN) to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).

Paramedic to AAS in Nursing Bridge Program (NUR102, NUR103)
The Paramedic to AAS Degree in Nursing Bridge Program is a transition course that will provide paramedics with the theory and clinical competencies to successfully progress into the third semester of the Maricopa Community Colleges Nursing Program.

License Practical Nursing Transition  (NUR191)
Overview of the role of the practical nurse in care of clients. Includes nursing standards and scope of practice of the practical nurse. Emphasis on nursing care related to pediatric and care of the well childbearing client and childbearing family. Focus on the role of practical nurse in providing care through interventions consistent with established nursing care plans.

Registered Nurse Refresher   (NUR228 @MCC, NCE275 @GWCC)
Update of current principles of nursing theory and clinical skills for RNs returning to active nursing in a medical-surgical or specialty health care setting.  Nursing pathways include medical-surgical, pediatric, obstetric, and psychiatric/mental health care. Concepts of caring, holism, critical thinking, and nursing process to provide safe nursing care for clients and their families. Application of professional nursing principles and theories related to health education and promotion for culturally diverse clients and families.
